So You Chose Teaching. How is That Working For You?
Is life stacking up the way you envisioned?

You are relieved in April to know you have a job in the same school, and then June comes, children out for the summer, and you begin to collect items for next year's fresh-faced kindergartners. In August, one week before school starts, you are notified by your principal that you will be teaching fifth grade on the second floor this year. (surprise. . . better move your stuff now before school starts next week.)
As your school's principal, you are beginning to sweat your school enrollment numbers. Now you will not only have to hire two new teachers in the next week, and the district office says "no assistants," but you will have to inform your award-winning art and music teachers that they will lose their classrooms and be forced to teach "a la cart." That music teacher is going to make a fuss, for sure! And on top of that, with the new testing, you will have to provide students with technology. (Is this job worth it?)
You're being promoted to third grade team leader this year, and what a team you have to lead! One teacher is out the door before the buses are gone to manage daycare issues, another stays late but comes in late (and where is administration's call in this?), and the other team member can't stay focused during team meetings. (Promotion = Stress)
With trying to manage family, professional and friend relationships, an ever-changing instructional workplace, demands on your time and budget, your health, maintenance of everything that seems to own you - when do you have time to catch up with YOU? As a coach and teacher involved in education, both public and private, I know intimately the challenges of carrying so many responsibilities and being fair with time management around them. Interestingly, this is a fine balancing act that must be re-balanced often as our needs change. Seeking balance, then, becomes just one more responsibility in a life that can become exhausting to manage. Life is hard for teachers and administrators, and a certified coach who "gets it" can assist you in making life more than merely manageable. Together we:
__ Assess values that drive you
__ Pinpoint stress areas and develop strategies for management
__ Learn how to live life CONSCIOUSLY
__ Find untapped energy reserves that are always ready to move you forward
__ Develop SMART goals and accomplish them
__ Find peace in the whirlwind
__ Reclaim your creative genius
__ Find strategies for maintaining flow in all areas of your life
__ Develop strategies that encourage empathy among students to facilitate a productive learning environment
